Catherine Lenox, DVM, DACVIM (Nutrition), CVA, CVFT

As one of fewer than 100 board certified veterinary nutritionists in the US, Dr. Lenox has dedicated her career to helping families optimize their pets’ nutrition. Her primary goal is for mealtime to become as enjoyable as possible for all, and for what the pet is eating to support their health.

Dr. Catherine Lenox is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and has a Bachelor of Science in biology from Duke University. She went to veterinary school at the University of Missouri and graduated in 2007. She then went on to do a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Colorado State University, and a residency in veterinary nutrition at the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her residency and became board certified in veterinary nutrition in 2011.

Dr. Lenox and her husband moved to Houston in 2011. She led a nutrition service at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists for three years, and she trained in acupuncture and veterinary food therapy at the Chi Institute during this time. In 2014, Dr. Lenox made a career move to industry, where she could make an impact on pet nutrition at a different level. Since then, Dr. Lenox worked for Royal Canin from 2014-2022, the Purina Institute from 2022-2025, and she started at Nom Nom in January 2026. During this time, Dr. Lenox has taught nutrition to countless veterinarians and veterinary students, published two textbooks on pet nutrition, and helped veterinarians with dietary recommendations for their patients. She is excited to help pet owners in Houston with their pets’ nutrition at CARE.
